Kosciuszko National Park – summer/spring

Kosciuszko National Park is the largest national park in New South Wales and provides lots of room for adventure and activities all year round. Not to mention the breathtaking views which surround you when in the park.

Summer/Spring

Such a great time of year to visit, all the Spring flowers are out, turning the mountains into rolling fields of brilliant colour. We love the park during this time, there is so much to do from hiking, mountain biking, swimming and fishing to kayaking and camping.

Some of the highlights in the park that we love are –

Hiking- There are so many amazing walks all through the park, some of our favourites are the main range walk, the Blue Lake Walk and the Kosciusko Summit walk. See attached story on our Blue Lake Hike.

Swimming – There are a range of swimming spots throughout the park and towns on the outskirts of the park. We have spent many days swimming and lazing around the many lakes in the park, Jindabyne being our favourite. Their are also the alpine lakes if your up for a cooler dip and the many rivers to explore and swim in including Thredbo River and the Snowy River. In the north side of the park there is also the natural Thermal Pools and Gorges to explore.

Camping – You are spoilt for choice for camping spots in Kosciusko National Park, in the towns there are a range of Caravan Parks to choose from on the Lake, including a Discovery Parks Park and an NRMA park both right on Jindabyne Lake. If your up for free camping, you are spoilt for choice from Bush camping to River or Lake Camping. As long as you have a NSW national parks pass including Kosciusko (costs more than the standard NSW pass) then all the camp spots are free and their are some absolute beauties.
